Marty Wendell and his band return to The Arts Center on the Hudson stage
on Friday, June 22nd at 7:30pm. Marty is a favorite Capital area performer
whose career spans over 45 years as a singer, songwriter and recording artist. He
was "discovered" in Greenwich Village as the mid-sixties revolution from folk to rock
music first got underway. Marty's early influences were the rockabilly sounds coming from
his family's old Philco radio. He later recorded at the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, TN,
home of the same artists he had grown up listening to. Marty has shared the stage with such
varied artists as Johnny Cash, Arlo Guthrie, Willie Nelson, Rita Coolidge, Kris Kristofferson,
Waylon Jennings and The Platters. A seasoned performer, Wendell offers up an original mix
of country, folk, rockabilly, gospel and early rock 'n' roll. He was recently added to the "Rockabilly
Hall of Fame" Legends list.
Please join us for Marty Wendell's concert on Friday, June 22nd, 7:30 pm.

The Arts Center on the Hudson is pleased to present the exhibit “Artists of Deception: The Ghost Army of World War II”. This exhibit describes the activities of the 23rd Headquarters Special Troops, a company comprised of 1100 officers and men capable of simulating two military divisions, or approximately 30 thousand men. During more than twenty full-scale deceptions the Ghost Army used sonic, radio and visual deception techniques to mislead the German army as to the whereabouts and strength of American troops. For the first time the army had at its disposal a mobile deception unit trained and equipped to stage multi-media illusions on demand. In addition to their missions, Ghost Army artists created a beautiful and haunting visual record of their war experience, painting and sketching during private moments. Several artists achieved post-war acclaim including Bill Blass, Arthur Singer and Ellsworth Kelly. On display are numerous reproductions of art work created by Ghost Army soldiers as well as detailed descriptions of the deception techniques used in various campaigns.
The exhibit will be open to the public Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 1-4 pm, February 4th thru April 1st. Arrangements for schools or other interested groups are available by appointment during the week. Free admission. Donations to offset exhibit costs are welcome. The Arts Center on the Hudson is located at 2 South Main Street, Mechanicville, NY 12118. For more information, please call 541-2070.
